Cursed for 2000 years, Roman Nicolis has tracked his lovers’ soul through each reincarnation only to lose her horribly every time. Reclaiming their love is their only salvation. He’s been her friend, her father, her neighbor, but never again her lover . . . until now. A late night walk home throws Stella into the path of a killer. The last thing she remembers are the deep blue eyes of the man trying to kill her—and the first things she sees after a seven day coma are the same blue eyes in the handsome face of the man hired to protect her. Is it fears she feels when Roman touches her or the memory of something sweeter? She will have to push past her fears and reclaim a love that has lasted two millennia.
Eternity-Descendants of Ra is the first book I have read by
this author. On reading the blurb I noticed that this had a very interesting unique plot-line, this is what initially drew me to this piece of writing along with the heavy Egyptian influence Eternity seemed to offer me, I am so a sucker for anything to do with Egyptian mythology. This book for me was a mixture of contrasts, some parts I loved, others not so much. I still overall enjoyed the experience and definitely want to read the next installment in the series there were just some niggling personal preferences I found hard to reconcile with that I think let it down slightly.
Let's start with our main characters- Stella, I didn't find her that easy to connect with initially and I'm not actually sure why, maybe it's because I found her a bit bland and one-dimensional, forgettable( not counting the opening scene that is, that was way intense ) she did start to grow on me more as the story commenced luckily. I am also very skeptical that Stella thinks she can identify her assailant just from the shade of his eyes when he was wearing a balaclava, that's just insanely far-fetched in my opinion. But all this aside Our Stella did become more interesting the further on Eternity progressed and I did find myself liking her especially with all the weird crap being thrown her way, MAN!!!! give the poor girl a break.
Now Roman, at first I really liked him and felt quite an immense dollop of sympathy for our heart wrenched immortal. poor man, aw, must be awful to keep losing his beloved over and over again. AND THEN HE HAD TO SPOIL IT ALL!!!! What the freaken hell was he playing at Romancing and seducing Stella when he still had a fiance (Oh Bianca of the massive rock on her finger) when he hadn't had the TALK!!! with her poor girl, it wasn't her fault Roman was only marrying her because he felt lonely perhaps he should have enlightened Bianca of that selfish man.
the other main person we see so much of is Daniel. he is one of Romans progenies who he has raised and brought into his family almost like a beloved a son. He is also the killer that attacked Stella at the beginning. He is massively jealous of his savior and this, in turn, has somehow turned him bitter and evil. WHY ? I don't get it I was often jealous of my siblings growing up it didn't turn me into a killer lol seems extreme.
There were other secondary characters the plot had on the sidelines but these three Stella, Roman and Daniel are the main go to guys. so in summary for me, we have, good points - Fast-paced storyline, well written, Egyptian influence, immortal hottie. Bad points- cheating douche bag, indecisive hero and by this I mean yes I want to do you, nooo I don't go away, come back, nooo. GGGRRR make up your mind rebound Roman. Ungrateful evil pleb (who's been given everything) of a relative (I still don't get it ) I was also a teeny bit confused about what happened to Bianca the now ex-fiance, after the maze incident nobody seems to mention her again, where is the girl, wait I think Stella asked after her at the hospital and was told she was now an ex-fiance, what the heck!!!! surely she was a bit freaked out after Daniels show and tell, what was she told? where is she now?
Overall this was an enjoyable read, with a HEA and a lot of room for future series growth. I think being the first of the series the plot was heading in numerous different directions and this was what made the sub-plots slightly confusing. Maybe this was why I had trouble connecting, as I was trying to keep it all straight in my head. I have tried to give my honest opinion while still being fair and this in my view is a great start to what promises to be an interesting series. I received a copy of this e-book for my honest opinion.
